More than 425 workers from a number of labour camps across Bahrain took part in a Summer Awareness Campaign organised by the Labour Ministry in association with the Indian Community Welfare Fund (ICRF) Bahrain and the Indian Club, and supported by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA).
The event, at the club’s premises in Manama, featured medical screening of the participants followed by consultation, eye check-ups while the Cancer Care Group also participated.
A laughter yoga session was held followed by a talk on health and safety precautions to be taken during summer months and awareness about labour rules and regulations and changes in end-of-service benefits.
Geet Mahmood enthralled the audience with some Hindi songs and some workers entertained the crowd with their dances.
A cake was cut for workers who were celebrating their birthday during the month and all participants were presented with gift hampers and dinner packets.
Present at the event were Labour Ministry director of inspection and occupational safety Mustafa Shaik and head of workers, residence inspection Hussain Al Husaini, IOM chief of mission Ihma Shareef and head of unit (immigration and border governance) Karim Helal, LMRA director of partnership and outreach Fahad AlBinali, Indian Club president Cassius Perriera, ICRF officials and volunteers along with officials from the embassies of India, Nepal, Bangladesh and the Philippines.
