The Government Hospitals have approved the accreditation of the Adult Critical Care Medicine Training Programme at Salmaniya Medical Complex by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, describing it as a significant milestone in Bahrain’s drive to advance medical training and invest in the skills of its national healthcare workforce.
The newly accredited programme is part of a broader set of initiatives aimed at strengthening Bahrain’s health sector through specialised training, aligned with the directives of His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Minister of the Court of the Prime Minister and Chairman of the Labour Fund (Tamkeen). The initiative, is set to support the development of 750 Bahraini doctors and nurses across the healthcare sector, Delivered in partnership with Tamkeen and the Supreme Council of Health,
The Government Hospitals said that in October 2025 and run through to September 2029, the four-year training course will play a key role in preparing physicians in the high-demand field of adult critical care. Two trainees will be admitted per level annually across five levels, providing structured and practical training that reflects the latest clinical standards and best practices.
The programme will also incorporate a series of advanced clinical modules across a range of specialties, including anaesthesia, nephrology, pulmonology, neuroanaesthesia, gastroenterology, thoracic and vascular surgery, infectious diseases, and intensive care radiology, ensuring trainees gain well-rounded experience in managing complex medical cases.
The Government Hospitals expressed pride in receiving the accreditation, which they said reflects growing regional confidence in Bahrain’s healthcare system. They affirmed their commitment to developing high-quality training pathways that equip medical professionals with the skills needed to deliver outstanding care and meet the evolving needs of the community.
