A major drug smuggling operation, estimated to be around BD76,000, has been foiled through a cooperative effort between Bahrain Customs and the Anti-Narcotics Directorate. The joint action led to the arrest of several Asian individuals on charges of possessing and smuggling a total of 11 kg of narcotics.
The initial discovery occurred when the Customs officials uncovered more than 5kg of narcotics in the possession of an individual attempting to enter the country via the airport. This prompted an investigation that swiftly led to the arrest of five more individuals, who were found in possession of another 6kg of narcotics.
The Anti-Narcotics Directorate has since taken all necessary legal actions and referred the case to the Public Prosecution.
