Lebanese President Joseph Aoun arrived in Bahrain for an official visit, during which he is scheduled to hold talks with His Majesty King Hamad to enhance the strong ties between the two countries, and discuss regional and international developments.
He will meet His Majesty today at Gudaibiya Palace, where an official reception ceremony will be held in his honour.
President Aoun was welcomed by His Majesty’s Personal Representative Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani, Muharraq Governor Salman Bin Hindi and Lebanese Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Mirna Khawly.
Upon arrival, President Aoun expressed gratitude for the invitation extended by the King to visit Bahrain. He said that the visit underscores the long-standing relations between the two countries.
The Lebanese President noted that the visit presents a valuable opportunity to further enhance co-operation across political, economic and cultural domains, reflecting the strong ties that have linked peoples of the two countries over many years.
He said he looked forward to the meetings with the King and senior Bahraini officials aimed at exchanging views on regional and international matters of mutual concern.
President Aoun emphasised Lebanon’s appreciation for its established relationship with Bahrain and recognised the kingdom’s supportive role towards Lebanon within various international and regional forums, as well as its contributions to promoting stability and development in the Arab region.
The President highlighted that the visit is expected to mark the beginning of new avenues for strategic partnership in the economic, investment and tourism sectors.
It will also advance their positions in a region facing complex and sensitive challenges that call for collaborative efforts to ensure security, stability and prosperity, he said.
He expressed optimism that the visit would mark a productive step forward and reflect the depth of Arab solidarity, paving the way for a new chapter of advanced co-operation between Lebanon and Bahrain.
