His Majesty King Hamad, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, yesterday received Commander of the United States Central Command General Michael Kurilla at Safriya Palace, accompanied by his delegation, who is on a visit to the kingdom.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Prime Minister; His Majesty’s Personal Representative Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa; National Security Adviser and Commander of the Royal Guard Lieutenant-General Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa; and Commander of the Royal Guard Special Force Colonel Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa were present.
During the meeting, His Majesty welcomed General Kurilla and expressed his appreciation for his efforts in developing Bahraini-American co-operation in defence and security.
His Majesty commended the historical ties and close partnership between Bahrain and the US, based on trust, mutual respect, co-operation, and joint co-ordination as allies. His Majesty noted the continued development of bilateral co-operation in all domains.
His Majesty also commended the US administration for its pivotal role and effective efforts in maintaining the security and stability of the region.
The meeting further addressed regional and international developments, with a focus on recent events in the region.
Following the meeting, His Majesty hosted a lunch banquet in honour of General Kurilla and his accompanying delegation.
