BAHRAIN has underlined the importance of continuing the delivery of humanitarian aid in Gaza.
The Cabinet, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, at Gudaibiya Palace yesterday expressed its gratitude to allied countries for their efforts.
The session reiterated Bahrain’s steadfast position in supporting the Palestinian cause and efforts aimed at achieving a just, peaceful and lasting solution.
It highlighted the importance of protecting civilians, releasing hostages, de-escalation and avoiding violence that threatens regional security and stability.
Images of emaciated children and abject starvation in the besieged enclave have sparked outrage around the world, including from Israel’s close allies. US President Donald Trump yesterday called the images of emaciated and malnourished children in Gaza ‘terrible’.
The UN’s World Food Programme said that almost 470,000 people in Gaza are enduring famine-like conditions, with 90,000 women and children in need of specialist nutrition treatments.
Israel has announced temporary 10-hour daily humanitarian pauses in its offensive and aid airdrops have begun to bring urgent relief but the UN and aid groups say they are not enough to counter worsening starvation in the Palestinian territory.
