The sixth Palm Tree Festival opens at the Farmers’ Market in Hoorat A’ali today.
Running until Saturday, the event is being organised under the umbrella of the Bahrain Development Bank (BDB) Group in collaboration with the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD).
“The popular festival is dedicated to encouraging local farming and preserving the kingdom’s agricultural heritage,” said a BDB statement yesterday.
“It provides an essential platform for Bahraini farmers to showcase and market their produce directly to the public, driving increased sales and enhancing their entrepreneurial ventures.
Additionally, the event significantly contributes to promoting domestically grown products, supports economic diversification, and plays a critical role in Bahrain’s ongoing efforts towards achieving food security.”
This year’s festival expects the participation of nearly 60 exhibitors, including local farmers, productive families and Bahraini businesses.
The expo is the result of strategic partnerships and sponsorship from key entities, notably the Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry, the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait and Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company.
