A new book that explains the right way to create AI-generated images using different themes, and stresses the importance of typing the correct ‘prompt’ has been released by a Bahraini media personality.
Muhannad Al Noaimi has released his latest book, titled AI Image Design Styles: Art at Your Fingertips, which, he says, is a comprehensive guide in the region designed for content creators, designers and enthusiasts in the field of visual creativity using artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.
He added that the concept, design, text, photographs and other details were all compiled using different AI tools.
“Visual creativity is no longer confined to brushes or cameras, as now it thrives on smart prompts that are given to ChatGPT or other AI models,” Mr Al Noaimi, who heads the AI team at the Information Affairs Ministry, told the GDN yesterday.
“I wanted this book to serve as a guide for amateurs or those interested in using AI tools for their work or leisure by showcasing different artistic styles from Pixar to Picasso, and encouraging everyone to choose the right words in their prompt searches.
“Many users do not know or are not aware how to type a prompt in ChatGPT, Canva, Gemini or other AI tools commonly used these days.”
He stressed a prompt is not just a description but acts as a blueprint for the AI model, guiding it toward specific styles, moods, compositions and visual details.
“The clarity and structure of the prompt should be clear, as it directly impacts and further reflects in the resulting image.
“High-quality prompts specify elements like subject, style, lighting and background, making it easier for the AI to interpret what one requires as part of their creative intention.
“On the other hand, vague or generic prompts often yield blurry, off-theme or uninspired results.”
Mr Al Noaimi added that prompt engineering for image generation is both a creative and technical skill that allows artists, educators, marketers and content creators to communicate their vision or imagination and reduce trial-and-error which the book explains.
“The journey starts with words that are fed to an AI model, which kicks the creative spark and opens a vibrant and visually stunning world of images.”
The book details different photographs including those of landmarks such as Bab Al Bahrain, Riffa Fort or the Bahrain Financial Harbour in different AI-generated themes.
“If you read the book, below every image the prompt that was entered to generate that photo is explained alongside the different styles used.”
The different visual styles explored included classics such as marble realism, stained glass, pop art, Japanese animation to modern aesthetics such as cyberpunk, holographic 3D, children’s book illustration and retro pixel games. The 63-page book in both Arabic and English is free to download on the author’s website (www.mohannad.org).
“We also covered pop-culture-inspired styles such as The Simpsons, Pixar, Ghibli, Rick and Morty, alongside iconic global art forms like Keith Haring, Picasso, Fleischer Studios and Art Deco,” said Mr Al Noaimi.
“I feel the release of the book comes in line with the rapid advancements in AI technologies, where visual creativity is no longer confined to traditional tools of design and photography but has expanded to intelligent text prompts capable of transforming words into vivid and lifelike images.”
This is the eighth book by the Bahraini author, whose other books specialised in media, innovation and AI.
The GDN reported earlier this year that 15 special television segments were produced by using AI, and broadcast for the first time on Bahrain TV and other government media platforms during Ramadan – which was also Mr Al Noaimi’s project.
Bahrain has recognised the importance of AI in streamlining processes and informing strategic decision-making of businesses across all industries, taking steps in the study and its application in a range of fields.
This includes using AI to detect changes and construction violations using satellite imagery, developing AI-powered chatbots, automatic monitoring of all palm trees, initiatives in education and training, including AI degree programmes in universities and vocational institutions, university AI labs, and Hackathons, which offer youth opportunities to gain knowledge.
Bahrain’s Labour Fund (Tamkeen) launched its largest-ever AI training package, which aims to upskill 50,000 Bahrainis in AI by 2030.
The initiative will offer training along three specialised tracks – AI Skills for Executive Leadership, General AI Skills, and Specialised AI Training.
