A nationwide campaign is underway to raise awareness around safety at swimming pools across the kingdom.
The Civil Defence General Directorate launched the campaign titled ‘Prevention and Safety in Swimming Pools’ in collaboration with the Health Ministry, the Industry and Commerce Ministry, Electricity and Water Authority and the Coastguard.
Field teams conducted on-site visits and engaged directly with pool users and owners, distributing informational brochures and stickers.
The initiative aims to reduce the risk of accidents by encouraging preventive safety measures, like supervising children at all times, ensuring availability of safety equipment and first aid kits, maintaining clean water, and verifying the cleanliness of pool facilities and safety of electrical connections.
Officials also highlighted the procedures to obtain legal licensing for operating swimming pools.
The team stressed the need to install essential safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers, fire blankets and smoke and gas detectors.
The campaign will continue across all governorates as part of ongoing efforts to enhance public safety during the summer.
