The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) has launched the 13th edition of the Human Rights Fellowship Programme, which targets academics, university students, human rights defenders, and individuals interested in conducting independent research in the field.
First launched in 2019, the programme aims to strengthen critical thinking and analytical skills in addressing human rights issues, while enhancing participants’ capacities in innovation and creativity to contribute to effective solutions for the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms.
The programme provides a comprehensive training curriculum that integrates both theoretical and practical components, aimed at deepening participants’ understanding of Bahraini and international human rights legislation.
It also features a series of specialised lectures on scientific research, field visits to relevant institutions, and an overview of the NIHR’s mandates in the areas of protection and promotion.
The initiative forms part of the NIHR’s ongoing efforts to promote and entrench a culture of human rights in Bahrain and to broaden community partnership in this field.
Since its inception, the programme has attracted more than 200 participants from diverse academic and professional backgrounds.
