A KUWAITI fashion influencer has been sentenced to one year in prison by a Bahraini court after being found guilty of sharing indecent videos on social media.
The Lower Criminal Court also fined the woman BD200, according to a report in Kuwaiti English daily Arab Times yesterday.
The report stated the court ordered the confiscation of the influencer’s mobile phones and deportation after the completion of her jail term.
The case came to light after Bahrain’s Interior Ministry’s cyber crime directorate filed a report against the influencer following a viral video showing ‘suggestive and inappropriate poses’.
Prosecutors even argued that the content also violated Kuwait’s public decency laws and cultural norms.
