A BAHRAINI woman has won a prestigious Arab award for her work in the field of community development.
Former member of the Bahrain Institute for Political Development’s board of trustees Dr Maha Al Shehab has won the Arab Woman Excellence Award 2025.
The Arab Women Committee of the Arab League announced the winner of the award’s fifth edition yesterday.
The selection was made by the award’s judging panel, following her nomination by the Supreme Council for Women.
The award aims to highlight the contributions of Arab women in community development as well as to encourage public and private institutions to support and empower women leaders by showcasing their achievements and success stories.
It also seeks to promote women’s participation in the workforce, expand opportunities for training and qualification through various initiatives and inspire young women to innovate and contribute to national development.
The award is presented annually by the Arab League to distinguished women across various fields, based on nominations by member states.
The award recognises outstanding achievements in areas such as science, educational management, arts, literature, journalism, media and sports, in line with technical criteria assessed by a panel of experts.
