WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean Dr Hanan Balkhy yesterday visited the Royal Medical Services (RMS), where she was received by its Commander Brigadier General Dr Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.
They discussed enhancing co-operation between the WHO and RMS, particularly advancing healthcare systems and improving diagnostic and treatment services in Bahrain.
Dr Balkhy also toured the Bahrain Oncology Centre, where she reviewed specialised services in hematology, oncology and stem cell transplantation for both adults and children. She was briefed on the centre’s advanced technologies used to treat cancer, sickle cell disease and genetic disorders, all delivered to international standards by qualified national medical professionals.
