An awareness campaign was organised at Budaiya Beach by the Coastguard in co-operation with the Northern Governorate Police Directorate.
It was part of community partnership with various institutions and members of civil society to present safety guidelines and correct procedures in cases of maritime incidents.
Officials also highlighted the importance of monitoring children and not leaving them alone while swimming, as well as the need to wear life jackets and follow weather updates to avoid swimming in areas with strong currents or during high winds.
Multilingual awareness leaflets and life jackets were distributed to beach-goers.
