A top official has called for the urgent maintenance of Zayed Town Park, stating that a request was submitted months ago to fix the worn-out park.
Southern Municipal Council member Abdulla Daraj described the recreational outlet as the only one for the residents of the area, and in dire need of development.
He explained that he had submitted an official request through the municipal council on May 12 to renovate the deteriorating park, stressing the need for authorities to expedite procedures.
He highlighted the importance of repairing the damaged gates and fences to ensure the safety of visitors and restore the park’s aesthetic appeal.
He expressed optimism about the responsiveness of the authorities concerned, affirming that the council would continue to follow up to ensure that required maintenance works are carried out as soon as possible.
In the past, residents have expressed concerns after exposed iron rods were spotted inside and near the park following the collapse of a concrete barrier.
They said that the rods posed a danger to children who would come to play at the park, especially young ones who may not realise the danger that protruding iron rods could pose and the injuries they could cause.
