A number of commercial establishments have been closed down in the Southern Governorate as part of a campaign aimed at curbing violations relating to the Public Roads Occupancy Law.
Being spearheaded by the Southern Municipality, the campaign aims to monitor and deal with violations such as shops extending into the road.
Examples of violations that come under the law include cafes placing tables and chairs on sidewalks, shops displaying goods outside their designated area, or street vendors occupying public spaces.
Inspectors also found commercial establishments placing signs outside their designated areas, obstructing sidewalks, and causing inconvenience to pedestrians and road users.
