Four people, described as Asian by the authorities, have been arrested for allegedly fishing using banned bottom trawling nets (kufa) in the Khor Fesht area.
The Coastguard yesterday said the boat was seized and necessary legal measures were taken against the violators to refer the case to the Public Prosecution.
They urged all seafarers to comply with the instructions of maritime patrols when requested to stop for inspection, to adhere to the regulations prohibiting illegal fishing methods and tools, and to follow procedures aimed at reducing unregulated fishing.
