The Indian community in Bahrain celebrated the nation’s 79th Independence Day yesterday with a number of colourful and vibrant events.
Nearly 1,500 people gathered at the Indian Embassy in Seef, where Ambassador Vinod Jacob hoisted the flag and read out President Droupadi Murmu’s Independence Day message.
Mr Jacob listed key developments in India-Bahrain relations, including the opening of a new Indian Consular Application Centre at Bahrain Mall and the introduction of eVisa facilities for Bahraini nationals.
The celebrations at the embassy also featured a stirring patriotic performance by the Bihar Foundation, adding melody and pride to the occasion.
A group of Indian motorcycle enthusiasts, known as the Pleasure Riders, hit the road on a symbolic trip around the nation to celebrate India’s spirit across borders for Independence Day.
Proudly displaying the tricolour, the biker group started off in Adhari Park, and passed several landmarks across the kingdom, before ending the ride at the Indian Embassy and joining their flag-hoisting ceremony.

The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) marked the national day at the school’s Isa Town Campus, in the presence of administrators, parents and staff from two campuses.
The celebration commenced with the unfurling of the national flag by ISB honorary chairman Binu Mannil Varughese, followed by the singing of the national anthem.
In his address, Mr Varughese highlighted the goal of fostering a strong sense of national pride and duty among students through such celebrations.
“This year holds special significance for us at the ISB as we celebrate our Platinum Jubilee – 75 glorious years of academic excellence, cultural diversity and community service,” he said.
