Travellers to Bahrain will now be able to bring limited quantities of meat, animal feed and pet food without the need for an import licence or veterinary certificates, under a new decision issued by Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Minister Wael Al Mubarak.
Published in the Official Gazette, the decision exempts animal consignments accompanying travellers in one vehicle and intended for personal use from several import requirements, such as an import licence, veterinary health certificate, and certificate of origin, provided they remain within set limits.
The exemption allows an accompanied consignment of up to two slaughtered sheep or goats, 40kg of cut meat, 50kg of animal feed, 10kg of dog and cat food, 3kg of solid dietary supplements, and one litre of liquid supplements.
