A teacher has been provisionally detained after she allegedly assaulted an eight-year-old female student at a private school, the Public Prosecution has said.
According to reports, the young girl was violently restrained within the school premises, with the teacher dragging her across the ground with one arm and deliberately obstructing her movement in front of other students.
Upon receiving a complaint, the authorities launched an investigation, reviewed recordings from the school’s security cameras and took down the testimony of the child.
The teacher has been interrogated, confronted with the charges against her, and ordered into pretrial detention.
She will be referred for trial, the Public Prosecution said.
The authorities stressed the importance of treating students in a manner consistent with educational and humanitarian principles, while ensuring their right to receive education in a secure environment that safeguards their rights.
They emphasised that strict measures will be taken against any individual who harms students or disrupts the educational process.
