A teenager was arrested for allegedly luring and exploiting several children to obtain recorded video clips using his social media accounts, the Interior Ministry said on X.
The Child Protection in Cyberspace Unit received a report on the 17-year-old boy, whose nationality was not disclosed, following a complaint from one of the children’s parents.
The unit immediately launched an investigation and collected information and evidence which led to the identification of the suspect.
Necessary legal procedures are underway to refer the case to the Public Prosecution.
Authorities stressed the importance of parents continuously monitoring their children and to educate themselves on the risks of using social media and other applications.
Parents are also urged to ensure children are using safe platforms and to educate their young ones on how to respond properly when facing threats or dangers.
They should immediately contact the unit if they suspect any activity that may endanger children’s safety, either through the direct hotline at 33523300 or via email at cpcu@interior.gov.bh.
