Bahrain played a key role in an international operation that led to the seizure of more than 820 tonnes of drugs worth over $2.9 billion, and arrest of more than 12,000 suspects.
The operation was conducted in co-operation with the European Law Enforcement Agency (Europol) and the International Police Organisation of the Americas (Ameripol), with the participation of 25 countries from all continents.
“The value of the seized items in this major operation, which lasted over two months, from June 10 to August 7, 2025, exceeded $2.9bn,” said an Interior Ministry statement.
“The total weight of the seized items exceeded 822 tonnes, and a total of 12,564 suspects were arrested.”
