Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa met a number of sermon speakers (Khatibs) and religious figures at the Police Officers Club, in the presence of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister Nawaf Al Maawda.
The meeting aimed at enhancing community partnership and constructive communication with all social groups, drawing on the role of religious speech in preserving the security and safety of society.
Gen Shaikh Rashid expressed appreciation to the attendees for responding to the invitation, emphasising that the security, safety, and stability experienced by Bahrain is due to the guidance of His Majesty King Hamad, and the ongoing efforts of the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
He stated that the meeting exemplifies Bahrain’s approach to communication, contributes to strengthening national unity, and underscores the importance of collaboration among citizens to reinforce social cohesion.
He highlighted the role of sermon speakers in delivering unifying messages and promoting adherence to Islamic teachings and core religious and community values.
He commended the educational and honourable mission of the religious pulpit in safeguarding the youth and reinforcing key religious principles amid increasing openness and societal challenges worldwide.
He also underlined that mosque pulpits must preserve their sanctity and their role in providing guidance and counsel for the welfare of the public, and that deviation from this role will not be permitted.
