An African national has been arrested after the Cybercrime Directorate reported a viral social media video in which he claimed to be trading one of his organs, displaying a signed cheque and cash as alleged payment, the head of the Cybercrime Prosecution said.
The suspect admitted to filming and posting the video but insisted it was fictitious and intended only to boost his social media following, she added.
Enquiries revealed that the cheque, valued at BD58.900, had been issued to cover labour dues owed to a colleague, not for organ trading.
