Parliament Speaker Ahmed Al Musallam highlighted Bahrain’s commitment to environmental sustainability under the directives of His Majesty King Hamad and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
He emphasised the importance of green technologies, eco-friendly practices and community engagement in environmental initiatives as Parliament members, government officials and experts in environment, energy and green development took part in a seminar focusing on legislative leadership for environmental protection, sustainable development and carbon neutrality.
Discussions covered sustainable parliamentary practices, eco-friendly procurement, Bahrain’s afforestation efforts, the Bahrain Mangroves Initiative, and partnerships with civil society and international organisations.
Al Musallam also noted that the Council earned ISO 14001 certification in environmental management, becoming the first parliament in the region to achieve this international recognition.
