On behalf of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa inaugurated the advanced research vessel Al Masaha 2050.
The inauguration marks a key milestone in the National Strategy of the Survey and Land Registration Bureau (SLRB), which aims to develop a reliable national data system to support strategic decision-making and serve economic development programmes.
Gen Shaikh Rashid expressed pride in the achievements of the development and modernisation process led by His Majesty King Hamad, and supported by the government under HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
He affirmed that Bahrain’s security and stability constitute a cornerstone for attracting investment and advancing sustainable development objectives in line with the Government Programme 2023-2026.
The Interior Minister highlighted that the launch of Al Masaha 2050 reflects the adoption of the latest systems and AI-supported technologies to monitor and protect the marine environment, enhance the safety of navigation routes, and support sustainable development.
He emphasised that Bahrain provides a safe and attractive environment for both local and foreign investments, supported by stable and flexible legislation, while developing mechanisms that sustain the national economy through the preservation of natural resources, strengthening marine reserves, and implementing programmes that ensure a secure maritime environment.
SLRB president Bassem Al Hamer highlighted that under the leadership of the King and the directives of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Bahrain continues to implement sustainable development and infrastructure projects that reinforce the kingdom’s comprehensive development across all sectors.
The construction of Al Masaha 2050 is part of efforts to enhance the exploration and management of marine sands, ensuring their optimal use as a natural resource, while supporting the real estate sector as one of the kingdom’s key non-oil industries.
It also contributes to attracting investments and encouraging effective partnerships with the private sector in developing infrastructure projects.
The vessel’s technical systems and advanced capabilities include the latest depth measurement technologies, geophysical surveying equipment, advanced laboratories for seabed analysis and sand sediment monitoring.
It is equipped with 3D survey systems, high-precision positioning devices, tidal and current measurement technologies, and integrated AI applications for real-time data analysis and decision support.
