Interior Ministry Under-Secretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs and chairman of the Anti-Violence and Addiction Committee Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa chaired the committee’s meeting.
He congratulated members on the start of the new academic year, and commended efforts to provide a safe educational environment that ensures the success of the learning process.
“Maan” (Together) programme director Ali Amini reviewed outcomes of the second semester of 2024-2025, including field interaction and results, and presented the plan for the first semester of 2025-2026. The plan features awareness curricula, interactive lectures, workshops, exhibitions and modern educational techniques to instil positive values of belonging and raise awareness of negative behaviours.
The committee discussed new curricula on civil defence and traffic safety, as well as the Awareness and Study Preparation Programme (WAED) at the Child Protection Centre, which aims to raise awareness, protect children, and support character building.
Shaikh Hisham highlighted the importance of continued co-operation with universities in preparing studies and research on security issues, providing accurate data and measurable indicators to support preventive planning and sustainable solutions.
He underlined the need to promote proper methods to prevent risks from online gaming platforms, emphasising awareness for students and parents, encouraging the use of parental control tools, developing safe-use awareness programmes, and organising workshops for educators to address behaviours linked to excessive gaming.
The meeting also reviewed the Maan Security Awareness Exhibition, which enables visitors to understand risks practically and experientially. It was noted as an effective tool in raising awareness of negative behaviours, promoting compliance with laws, and strengthening preventive culture to build a responsible society.
The committee concluded by discussing future plans to further develop the Maan programme, improve its performance, align with evolving community needs, and enhance partnerships with official and community entities to achieve sustainable outcomes that support a safe and healthy society.
