The annual midday outdoor work ban saw 99.97 per cent compliance this year, with only 10 establishments found violating the ban, it has emerged.
The Labour Ministry conducted 35,050 visits to check compliance as part of intensive inspection campaigns, said Acting Labour Minister and Legal Affairs Minister Yousif Khalaf.
This came as the Labour Ministry announced the end of the implementation period for Ministerial Decision (3) of 2013, amended by Decision (11) of 2025, which prohibits outdoor work under direct sunlight from noon to 4pm. This year, the ban was enforced from June 15 to September 15.
Mr Khalaf stressed Bahrain’s commitment to advancing safe and healthy work practices by updating labour legislation in line with international standards. He noted the extension of the midday work ban from two to three months this year to better protect workers from extreme heat and high humidity.
He commended employers for co-operation in applying the decision, emphasising its humanitarian aspect to ensure a safe work environment and protect workers from heat stress, heatstroke and other summer illnesses.
The ministry also ran awareness campaigns and workshops with health and safety officials from private sector establishments to educate workers on precautions against heat-related risks. The ministry established a hotline to receive reports or complaints about any violations during the ban period.
