A free awareness clinic for Parkinson’s disease patients in Bahrain will be held along with workshops during a two-day conference that opens at 5.30pm tomorrow at the Gulf Hotel, Manama.
The First Bahrain International Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders Conference is being organised by Bahrain Specialist Hospital and Neurolab Medical Consultation, in partnership with King’s College London Dubai Advanced Parkinson’s Disorder Master Class.
Supreme Council for Health chairman Lieutenant General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa will be attending the opening of the forum.
This marks the first time the conference is being held in Bahrain, having previously taken place in Dubai.
Discussions will focus on the use of Botox injections for treating spasticity and migraines. Experts from Bahrain, the GCC and the world will also review the most prominent diagnostic and therapeutic developments in this field.
Bahraini experts include Dr Adel Aljishi, Dr Farzana Alsayed, Dr Mohammed Elmahdy, Dr Hani Humaidan and Dr Mohamed Alkhaja.
Dr Majid Al Abdali from Saudi Arabia, Dr Mishal Abu Al Melh from Kuwait and professor Ray Chaudhuri and Dr Vinod Metta from King’s College London will also be attending.
Educational sessions will be conducted in collaboration with leading international pharmaceutical companies.
