Bahrain and Japan yesterday signed agreements in aerospace, human resources management, e-government and digital transformation and air transport services and direct flights, during the meeting of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, with Japanese Premier Shigeru Ishiba.
Following are the agreements:
* A memorandum of co-operation between the Bahrain Space Agency and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), aimed at enhancing co-operation across joint projects, research and development, training and the exchange of expertise. It was signed by Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani, and Japan’s JAXA president Hiroshi Yamakawa.
* A memorandum of co-operation between the Civil Service Bureau and the Japan International Co-operation Centre (JICE), to co-operate in human resources management across the public sector. Dr Al Zayani and Japan’s JICE senior vice-president Yamana Kenji signed the agreement.
* A memorandum of understanding between the Information and e-Government Authority (iGA) and Japan’s Digital Agency regarding the exchange of expertise in the field of e-government and digital transformation. It was signed by Dr Al Zayani and Japan’s Digital Transformation Minister Masaaki Taira.
* A memorandum of co-operation between Bahrain’s Industry and Commerce Ministry and the Japan Patent Office regarding the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) Programme. It was signed Industry and Commerce Minister Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro and Japan Patent Office deputy commissioner Futoshi Yasuda.
* A consultation document between Bahrain and Japan on air transport services and direct flights, signed on the Bahraini side by Bahrain’ Ambassador to Japan Ahmed Al Doseri, and on the Japanese side by Civil Aviation Bureau director general at the Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Ministry Miyazawa Koichi.
After the meeting, HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister attended a dinner banquet hosted by the Prime Minister of Japan in his honour and that of the accompanying delegation’s official visit to Japan.
Prime Minister’s Court Minister Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and several senior officials also attended the meeting.
