Achievements and challenges of Bahrain’s government hospitals were highlighted during a major global health exhibition in Egypt.
Speaking at the Egy Health Expo 2025 in Cairo, Government Hospitals chief executive officer Dr Mariam Al Jalahma reviewed key milestones in the kingdom’s public health sector over recent years.
She also highlighted the ongoing efforts to drive development and improvement to establish an advanced model for responsiveness and the quality of healthcare services provided.
The official outlined major achievements and advancements by the Government Hospitals, including infrastructure development, the adoption of the latest electronic systems in health service management, continued improvements in the quality of medical care, and the implementation of training and continuous education programmes for national professionals.
She noted that these efforts contribute to consolidating Bahrain’s position as a leading healthcare hub in the region.
Dr Al Jalahma underscored the importance of exchanging expertise among countries and health institutions, expressing her pride in participating in the international medical gathering that brought together leading experts and decision-makers in the health sector.
She emphasised that Bahrain’s participation reflected the kingdom’s keenness to keep pace with global developments in the health sector, benefit from the latest medical technologies and innovations, and strengthen co-operation with Arab and international health institutions, to further enhance the quality of healthcare services provided to citizens and residents.
Dr Al Jalahma added that the exhibition provided a leading platform for exchanging expertise and successful experiences in healthcare, exploring the latest medical equipment and technologies, and discussing opportunities for partnership and integration among Arab countries in the health sector.
The conference addressed several key topics, including digital transformation in healthcare, the role of artificial intelligence in diagnosis, treatment and health service management, the launch of new health initiatives in Egypt, and proposals to establish a co-operation network between Arab healthcare providers.
It also discussed mechanisms for joint procurement of medicines to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Bahrain’s delegation also attended the meeting of Arab health authorities, held on the sidelines of the conference, which highlighted the main challenges facing the Arab healthcare system, particularly the importance of ensuring continuity in the supply of medicines and medical equipment as a cornerstone for efficient health systems and for strengthening resilience in times of crises and emergencies.
During the conference, it was announced that Bahrain had assumed the presidency of the third session of the Arab Health Authorities, with the next meeting to be held on the sidelines of the Manama Health Congress and Expo 2026. The event will provide a new platform to advance Arab health integration and exchange future visions.
