National Security Adviser and Royal Guard Commander Lieutenant General Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa yesterday witnessed the signing of a co-operation agreement in leadership development and initial officer training between Isa Royal Military College and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, during his visit to the British academy yesterday.
He said the agreement represents a qualitative step in the development of Bahraini military cadres and reflects Bahrain’s commitment to investing in military competencies by providing an advanced training and educational environment.
Lt Gen Shaikh Nasser underlined that the strong relations between Bahrain and the UK are based on solid foundations of joint work laid down by His Majesty King Hamad, with the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
“The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst has contributed to strengthening the Bahrain Defence Force by providing competent officers through an environment conducive to developing their capabilities,” he noted.
Lt Gen Shaikh Nasser and the accompanying delegation were received by Major General Nick Cowley, Commandant of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, and senior officers from the BDF and the academy.
He also met several Bahraini military cadets at the academy, commending its role in preparing and training its graduates and its approach to leadership and discipline.
Also present were Bahrain’s Ambassador to the UK Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa; Deputy National Security Adviser Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa; Strategic Security Bureau chairman Shaikh Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa; and Capital Governor Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al Khalifa.
