The Indian Fine Arts Society (IFAS) in Bahrain, an institution with a half-century legacy, is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a show-stopping new initiative: ‘Superstar Singer, powered by Almoayyed Motors Ford’.
This Bollywood-inspired and traditional folk competition is a bold and unique platform to unearth local talented vocalists, say organisers, and offering them a platform to perform.
Established in 1974, IFAS is one of the oldest cultural organisations in Bahrain, having dedicated five decades to promoting arts, culture and social harmony. It has consistently brought world-class musical and dance artists to the kingdom while also nurturing local stars.
The competition is open to all Bahrain residents between the ages of 18 and 60, who are invited to perform semi-classical Bollywood songs. And, in a celebration of India’s diversity, residents are also being encouraged to showcase the rich heritage of their distinct homeland by performing folk songs from across its regions.
This grand showcase of ‘Unity in Diversity’ also aims to showcase IFAS’s commitment to bridging the cultures of India and Bahrain.
The Indian Embassy has designated IFAS to represent India at Bahrain’s annual International Music Festival. This new initiative is a continuation of IFAS’s mission to strengthen the ties between the two nations.
Cultural ties between India and Bahrain date back thousands of years.
There are approximately 350,000 Indian expats in Bahrain, who form the largest expatriate community in the country and are integral to its society and economy, according to the Embassy of India, Bahrain.
The Indian community spans various sectors, including labour, engineering, business and the retail industry, reflecting deep ties between the two nations.
This year, 2025, marks a major milestone for IFAS as it celebrates ‘50+ Years of Legacy, Harmony & Culture’.
Organisers are calling on all residents to lend their full support to the ‘Superstar Singer’ initiative.
Ford, the brand sponsoring the event, has a history of supporting community events in Bahrain, further cementing the partnership’s significance, the organisers added.
