His Majesty King Hamad sent a cable of condolences to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on the passing of Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Shaikh, Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, Council of Senior Scholars chairman, General Presidency for Scholarly Research and Ifta president, and Supreme Council of the Muslim World League president.
The King commended the late scholar’s distinguished merits and contributions, noting that Saudi Arabia and the Islamic world have lost a prominent figure who devoted his life to the service of knowledge, Islam and Muslims.
The King sent a similar cable to Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, sent a similar cable of condolences to King Salman and Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA) issued a condolence statement on the passing of Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Shaikh.
It emphasised that the late Grand Mufti was a distinguished figure of the Muslim Ummah, a devoted jurist who served Sharia with sincerity, a trusted source of religious guidance, a steadfast advocate of moderation, and a firm defender of the principles of the true faith.
With his vast knowledge, sound fatwas, sermons, lectures and lessons, he enlightened the Muslim nation, guided its youth, and carried its mission to the wider world.
The council noted that the late Grand Mufti’s scholarly and religious contributions will remain a lasting beacon for future generations.
