Bahrain has been awarded one of the most prestigious international distinctions in civil aviation in recognition of its progress in advancing safety and security.
Transportation and Telecommunications Under-Secretary for Civil Aviation Affairs Husain Al Shuail received the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Council President Certificate. It was presented during the opening session of the 42nd Assembly of the ICAO in Canada.
Transportation and Telecommunications Minister Dr Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa said the recognition reflects the vision of His Majesty King Hamad and the government’s support under the leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

He stressed that the award underscores Bahrain’s commitment to strengthening civil aviation, raising safety and security standards, and aligning with international quality.
The minister noted that the achievement came after Bahrain attained a high compliance rating in ICAO’s recent comprehensive aviation security audit, which confirmed the efficiency of national legislation and procedures.
He added that the award is a clear testament to Bahrain’s prominent standing in the aviation field and the success of its efforts to modernise and safeguard the sector in accordance with best international practices.
The ICAO Council President Certificate is granted to member states that achieve outstanding results in areas of aviation safety, security and sustainability.
Bahrain’s win represents a milestone achievement that strengthens its role in promoting international co-operation, supporting the development of global air transport, and reinforcing its leadership at both the regional and international levels.
