The third edition of the European Day of Languages was organised by an European Union (EU) delegation, the embassies of Cyprus, France, Germany, Italy, the honorary consulate of Sweden and other private entities at the InterContinental Regency. Participants engaged in interactive language-learning sessions and enjoyed traditional music and dance performances, language quizzes and competitions.
The annual event, organised jointly by the European Commission and the Council of Europe, aims to promote linguistic diversity and cultural heritage, reinforce intercultural understanding as well as encourage people of all ages to learn languages.
The day also serves as a reminder of the richness of the linguistic landscape of Europe where more than 200 languages are spoken.
