Bahrain and Italy have signed a Strategic Investments and Collaboration Partnership (SIP) that will result in investments in excess of one billion euros.
The agreement and several memoranda of understanding that will enhance economic relations and increase trade and investments between the two nations were signed when His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, met Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, at Palazzo Chigi in Rome.
The meeting took place as part of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s official visit to Italy.
The wide-ranging MoUs will enhance ties in investment and banking, space, science and technology and Customs controls.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister underscored the depth of Bahrain-Italy relations, which continue to strengthen under the support of His Majesty King Hamad.
He highlighted the commitment of both countries to further advance their partnership across diverse fields, in support of growth and prosperity.
HRH Prince Salman commended Italy’s role in promoting regional and global security and peace.
He noted that Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty, remains steadfast in its efforts to secure peace and advance the values of tolerance, coexistence and dialogue globally.
During the meeting, both parties discussed ways to further consolidate the Bahrain-Italy partnership across all fields.
They also reviewed latest regional and international developments and issues of common interest.
Prime Minister Meloni commended the leadership of His Majesty in advancing co-operation, stability and peace in the region and beyond.
She also welcomed the visit of HRH Prince Salman, noting that it reflects the shared commitment and mutual interest in strengthening relations in pursuit of common goals and aspirations.
Prime Minister’s Court Minister Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani, Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa and several senior officials attended.
