The General Directorate of Traffic has stepped up its efforts to enforce regulations on the use of electric scooters, emphasising that they must not be used on main roads, vehicle lanes, or road shoulders, as doing so poses serious risks to riders, other road users, and disrupts the overall flow of traffic.
The Directorate has released a video showing policemen seizing such scooters on Bahrain's roads.
These vehicles, typically charged at home, come in a variety of shapes and sizes.
People use them to weave between slow-moving lanes of traffic and pedestrians on the pavement, either for leisure or for tasks such as cold-store grocery deliveries.
The Directorate has urged all road users to comply with traffic regulations to ensure road safety.
