The French-Turkish ensemble Luna de Seda will perform live in Bahrain on Wednesday as part of the Bahrain International Music Festival (BIMF).
The concert is being organised by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities in collaboration with the French Embassy during the 34th edition of the BIMF.
The performance, led by acclaimed French double bassist Renaud Garcia-Fons, will take place at the Cultural Hall on October 8 at 8pm.
Renowned for his exceptional five-string double bass technique and genre-defying compositions, Garcia-Fons has earned multiple international accolades, including the Echo Deutscher MusikPreis Jazz Award for Best International Instrumentalist in 2010 and 2011, the BMW Welt Jazz Award in 2017, and the SACEM Grand Prix for Jazz in 2021.
Luna de Seda brings together four virtuoso musicians – Garcia-Fons on double bass, Kiko Ruiz on flamenco guitar, Derya Türkan on kemence, and Serkan Halili on kanun – in a performance that fuses Eastern and Western sounds.
Their repertoire blends maqam and flamenco traditions with elements of jazz, blues, and Afro-Latin rhythms, creating a seamless and evocative dialogue between cultures.
The concert is aimed at fostering cross-cultural exchange and celebrating the unifying power of music.
Admission is free, subject to seat availability, and the show is open to those aged eight and above, with no prior registration required.
