Bahrain, represented by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), University of Bahrain (UoB), and the Nasser Centre for Science and Technology, participated in the Cyber Diplomatic Dialogue between the Gulf Co-operation Council and the European Union (EU), held on the sidelines of the 2025 Global Cybersecurity Forum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Bahrain’s delegation included experts and academics from leading national institutions.
NCSC’s Cyber Policy Directorate director Dr Yusuf Mohammed participated in a session on enhancing cyber resilience through enhancing regional cybersecurity frameworks and protecting critical infrastructure.
He discussed the kingdom’s efforts to improve national cyber resilience by developing governance structures, security policies, and best practices for safeguarding vital infrastructure. He also highlighted the importance of GCC-EU co-operation to address shared cyber threats.
Computer Science Department head from UoB, Dr Abdulla Ahmed presented a session on cybersecurity challenges and priorities in a rapidly changing technological environment.
He highlighted how fast technological advancements affect cybersecurity priorities and emphasised the need for investment in scientific research and specialised education to develop national talent capable of protecting cyberspace amid evolving digital conditions.
From the Nasser Centre for Science and Technology vice-principal, Dr Mussab Zeyad, presented a session focusing on capacity building, bridging gaps, and enhancing co-operation. He emphasised the significance of developing national and regional capacities through knowledge exchange, empowering young talent, and fostering research and academic collaboration between Bahrain and its regional and international partners.
These contributions reflect Bahrain’s commitment to advancing regional and international co-operation in cybersecurity, building national capacity to address growing technological challenges, and protecting the region’s cyberspace, while actively supporting the GCC–EU cyber diplomacy dialogue and contributing to the shaping of regional and international cybersecurity policy.
