Eighty topics are listed on Parliament’s regular weekly session of the final legislative term on Tuesday – a record.
They include 11 royal decrees issued by His Majesty King Hamad during the five-month recess, 28 legislations referred by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the closing 2024 financial statement of the Unemployment Fund, and 40 government replies on parliamentary proposals submitted over the past term.
The King is set to open the National Assembly and Parliament and the Shura Council’s fourth session of the sixth legislative term on Sunday.
The opening ceremony at the Isa Cultural Centre will be followed on the same night by the Shura Council and Parliament’s first sessions of the term at the National Assembly Complex in Gudaibiya.
The Shura Council will hold elections for the first and second vice-chairmen. So far, only current first vice-chairman Jamal Fakhro and current second vice-chairwoman Dr. Jihad Al Fadhel have forwarded their names to chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh.
This will be followed by Parliament session in which MPs will be notified about royal orders.
