Marking National Tree Week, Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa yesterday planted a tree at Riffa Palace, in the presence of several officials.
Shaikh Mohammed outlined the importance of environmental initiatives, particularly National Tree Week, as a cornerstone of the kingdom’s efforts to preserve the environment and ensure the sustainability of its resources.
These efforts align with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Parliament Speaker Ahmed Al Musallam alongside MPs and Parliament officials also planted trees in the National Assembly Complex in Gudaibiya to mark the Tree Week.
The National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) launched the fifth phase of the Forever Green campaign, in conjunction with Tree Week, with the support of Bapco Energies.
The new phase was inaugurated by Youth Affairs Minister Rawan Tawfiqi, NIAD secretary general Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa and Bapco Tazweed CEO Basema Al Mahroos, through a tree-planting activity at the Zallaq Youth Empowerment Centre.
Acting Labour Minister and Legal Affairs Minister Yousef Khalaf participated in Tree Week activities by planting trees at Al Andalus Park and at the Labour Ministry headquarters.
Institute of Public Administration director general Dr Shaikha Rana bint Isa Al Khalifa and Survey and Land Registration Bureau president Bassim bin Yaqoub Al Hamer also actively took pat in a tree-planting activity.
