Two suspects, a man and a woman, described by the Public Prosecution only as Arab nationals, have been placed in provisional detention on charges of stealing gold jewellery and replacing them with fake items.
They reportedly distracted a shopkeeper to commit their crime, and then sold the jewellery at another gold store.
The Public Prosecution said in a statement yesterday that an investigation was launched after a report on the duo was received from Naim Police Station.
They were identified and arrested, with the female suspect admitting to the crime, which they had planned. Necessary legal procedures are underway to refer them to a criminal court for trial.
