His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has directed officials to reduce maximum monthly instalments for beneficiaries of a popular housing programme, Mazaya, by increasing government support.
He gave the directives during the weekly Cabinet meeting, which he chaired at Gudaibiya Palace yesterday.
HRH Prince Salman also instructed the Housing and Urban Planning Ministry to diversify housing options to better meet citizens’ needs and aspirations.
The Cabinet expressed its gratitude to the private sector for its continued support in advancing housing services and projects.
The session also approved a memorandum submitted by the ministerial committee for financial and economic affairs and fiscal balance on developments in the social housing sector, in line with the framework for implementing the directives of the His Majesty King Hamad to accelerate the disbursement of 50,000 housing units and enhance public services for the benefit of Bahraini families.
The Cabinet later reviewed the progress of implementing HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s directives to the Labour Ministry to provide three job opportunities for every registered Bahraini job-seeker before the end of the year.
It expressed its appreciation to the ministry for its efforts in conducting 15,000 interviews with candidates and in offering three job opportunities to 2,000 citizens who are registered and seeking employment.
