A unified vision to make the most of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in humanitarian and relief work was the focus of a regional forum in Kuwait.
The first GCC Conference of the Red Crescent on Artificial Intelligence was hosted by the Kuwait Red Crescent Society under the theme, ‘Towards New Horizons in Humanitarian Work and Development Media: Harnessing the Power of Artificial Intelligence’.
The event reflected the growing commitment of Gulf societies to harness smart technologies in advancing humanitarian response and development communication.
It also underscored efforts to enhance the efficiency of volunteer and relief operations while strengthening systems for data collection, analysis and early prediction.
Bahrain was represented at the conference by Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) board member Adel Al Jar and public relations committee head Ali Medon.
“The society’s participation aimed to contribute to developing frameworks for the responsible and ethical use of artificial intelligence to ensure that humanitarian assistance is delivered with the highest levels of speed, precision and transparency,” said BRCS secretary-general Mubarak Al Hadi.
“We are committed to actively participate in joint GCC initiatives that seek to elevate the standards of volunteerism and relief work across the region.”
Mr Al Hadi added that the society will work to implement the recommendations and initiatives adopted during the conference, particularly those focused on enhancing the capabilities of volunteers and staff in the fields of digital humanitarian communication and innovative application of AI.
