Royal Medical Services (RMS) Commander and Central Committee for Transplantation of Human Organs chairman Brigadier General Dr Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa said that the national organ donation campaign embodies Bahrain’s commitment to compassion and solidarity, offering renewed hope to patients in need.
Brig Gen Dr Shaikh Fahad highlighted that since the launch of the transplant programme in November 2023, King Hamad University Hospital has successfully completed 54 kidney and 19 liver transplants, a milestone reflecting the expertise of Bahraini medical teams and the leadership’s continued support.
He noted that the RMS is working to expand the programme through advanced training, new surgical technologies, and partnerships with leading international centres, alongside awareness efforts encouraging community participation in organ donation.
Brig Gen Dr Shaikh Fahad underscored that the initiative represents a lasting humanitarian mission, aimed at saving lives and strengthening Bahrain’s position as a regional leader in organ transplantation.
