The amended Press Law marks a new and important milestone in Bahrain’s ongoing efforts to modernise and develop its legislative and institutional frameworks, His Majesty King Hamad has said.
He yesterday ratified and issued Law (41) of 2025 amending certain provisions of Decree-Law (47) of 2002 on the Regulation of the Press, Printing and Publishing, following its approval by the Shura Council and Parliament.
His Majesty noted that the law reflects Bahrain’s modern and forward-looking approach supporting the growth of national journalism and media.
It reinforces their constructive role in nation-building, safeguarding the rights of journalists and media professionals and enabling them to carry out their work with increased efficiency, ease and professionalism, the King said.
His Majesty congratulated all members of the Press and media and expressed appreciation for the co-ordination between the government, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and the Legislative Authority.
The law stipulates comprehensive amendments to the legal framework governing the Press, printing, publishing and digital media.
