The US is dedicated to being Bahrain’s regional partner in matters such as security and energy co-operation, a top official has said.
US Charge d’Affaires Elizabeth Litchfield highlighted the importance of Bahraini-US partnership, as she spoke to Bahraini media during the IISS Manama Dialogue 2025, being held at The Ritz-Carlton Bahrain yesterday.
“The US government, under the leadership of President Donald Trump, places great importance on sending delegates to events such as the Manama Dialogue 2025,” she said.
“It gives us the chance to engage in discussions and exchange expertise in different matters. This includes co-operation in energy and the enhancement of regional security.
“It also offers an opportunity to discuss comprehensive agreements across different sectors.”
Ms Litchfield said there were a range of topics that the US delegation was eager to discuss during this year’s summit, and expressed her confidence in Bahrain as a major partner in the GCC and the Arab world. “Bahrain is one of our strongest partners in various fields,” she said.
“Our main goal is to enhance peace in the region, and that will be among the major topics that will be covered at the summit.”
The event, which kicked off yesterday evening, continues today with discussions on the Future of Global Security Governance, National Security and Energy: the US approach, Securing the Gulf, Geopolitics of Energy, and more.
It will conclude tomorrow with discussions on Managing Political Transitions in the Levant, Prospects for Security Sector Reform in Syria, Maritime Security and more.
