BAHRAIN and Cyprus have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen security relations.
It was signed by National Security Adviser, Royal Guard Commander and Supreme Defence Council Secretary General Lieutenant General Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The agreement between the Supreme Defence Council general secretariat and National Security Council of Cyprus comes within the framework of the 21st International Institute of Strategic Studies (IISS) Manama Dialogue.
The Cypriot delegation was represented at the signing by National Security Adviser and Intelligence Service director Tassos Tsezonis.
Present at the event were Deputy National Security Adviser and Supreme Defence Council deputy secretary general Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa and Strategic Security Bureau chairman Shaikh Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa.
Lt Gen Shaikh Nasser affirmed that the signing of the MoU reflects Bahrain’s vision to expand its international partnerships in the field of security.
He noted that the agreement represents a strategic step to enhance security co-operation with Cyprus, develop security networks and support joint preparations to address regional and global challenges, thereby serving the security and stability of both countries and the region.
Lt Gen Shaikh Nasser said these relations have witnessed continuous growth across various domains.
The MoU provides for co-operation in exchanging security information and expertise, conducting training and maintaining continuous co-ordination.
