Relations between Bahrain and India are deep and growing steadily, Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani has affirmed.
He underscored deep-rooted historic relations of friendship between both countries and their peoples, praising the strong bond spanning nearly 5,000 years, which was founded on trade and cultural exchange between the ancient civilisations of Dilmun and the Indus Valley.
Dr Al Zayani was speaking during the fifth session of the Bahrain-India Joint Ministerial Committee he co-chaired in New Delhi yesterday.
The minister stated that economic ties form the cornerstone of bilateral relations, which have flourished across multiple sectors, reflecting both nations’ recognition that economic co-operation and interconnectivity are key drivers of peace, stability, and shared prosperity.
Dr Al Zayani also expressed Bahrain’s aspiration to strengthen ties between India and the wider region, a goal that depends on achieving lasting and sustainable peace in the Middle East. He emphasised that Bahrain’s vision for the region is based on dialogue, coexistence, and mutual respect.
Indian Minister of External Affairs Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar lauded the tangible progress achieved by both countries in enhancing various areas of co-operation. He underlined the need to explore and develop other vital sectors, expressing India’s appreciation for the continued care and hospitality extended to the Indian community in Bahrain.
